Contracts & Grants Administration

The life cycle of an award begins with a concept or idea that is turned into a proposal, followed by an award, the conduct of the project, and several other key steps that eventually lead to the closeout process. The Principal Investigator (PI) has overall responsibility for the technical and fiscal management of a sponsored project, and working closely with the sponsored projects staff to assure that the sponsor is notified when major conditions related to the project status change. While responsibility for the day to day management of the finances may be delegated to other staff, accountability for compliance with UCI policy and sponsor requirements ultimately resides with the Principal Investigator.
